Disease Detection
There are published papers suggesting that systemic disease may be detected using changes in the gene expression of the skin as a proxy for what is happening at a deeper level. The rationale is that the skin, the largest organ in the body, will exhibit genetic shifts in response to a disease state.
DermTech researchers have generated early data suggesting that the EGIR™ technology has the potential to identify serious conditions well before they could be detected clinically.
