Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers

We have commenced the development of a gene expression test to detect the presence of non-melanoma skin cancers using skin samples collected with our Adhesive Patch Skin Biopsy Kit. Non-melanoma skin cancer includes basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. We have identified differentially expressed genes that allow the identification of these cancers, and we are conducting clinical trials to validate this test. There are approximately 5,000,000 surgical biopsies performed annually in the U.S. to diagnose these skin cancers with approximately 50% of these biopsies positive for the presence of disease. The majority of these cancers occur in cosmetically sensitive areas such as the head, neck, face, and chest.
